what's the caper here?
AustralianBlogs.com.au started in March 2006 as a self-serve directory of local blogs (bit like a 'White Pages' of the Australian blogosphere). Bloggers and blog readers popped by to check out who's who and what was going on locally. Using keyword tags, they were able to quickly find other local blogs in their area of interest.
Over time, however, we found that our users wanted more. They liked the blog directory but wanted to be able to do more than just list their blogs. They wanted to be able to list more stuff. They wanted to be able to interact with others. But they wanted to keep the focus LOCAL.
BuggerAll.com.au now takes that original directory concept to the next level by providing a classifieds engine that provides bloggers and blog readers the ability to advertise by keyword and locality tags.
For example, you can:
- list your Australian blog
- list your classifieds ad (eg. forsale, personals etc)
- publicise your local event (eg. garage sales, school fete, fundraising events, meetups)
- issue press releases
- highlight an interesting blog post (eg. a restaurant review, local news etc)
- bookmark local websites
- OR comment on someone else's listing
why should I add my 'somethings'?
- it's free publicity (and always will be)
- it will be read by someone in the AustralianBlogs-osphere (and they are a bloody noisy bunch, so if it's interesting they'll probably tell someone about it). Guaranteed.
- we're terribly search engine-friendly (Google PageRank6, for those in the know) so it's more likely to show up really high in Google, Live, Yahoo etc
- a truckload of people subscribe to our RSS feeds by keyword and/or locality tags
how do I add my 'somethings'?
Just click on 'Add something' on the top right-hand corner of the page
what happens to AustralianBlogs?
Nothing. All blogs submitted on AustralianBlogs will also show up on BuggerAll, and vice versa - only blogs listed on BuggerAll will show up on AustralianBlogs. AustralianBlogs.com.au will continue to be our main focus
