[blog] Ten steps to inspecting the house or building
Here is the pre- purchased inspection checklist for house, apartment or building; 1. Check, are the doors open and shut without obstruction of the door frame? The shape of door should be rectangular and it should be within its frame. 2. Are the windows open and close smoothly? Check their cracked panels of glasses and damp damage. 3. Make sure wall has no any damp issue. There should be no mould stains or irregular area of fresh paint at any wall. 4. Ensure that ceiling has not much patch work. If it is consistent then it could be more reliable. 5. In kitchen, look at sink and junction of the splash back. There should be no damp stains at all. 6. Make sure that plumbing fitting is secure and correctly fitted. You can shake the joints gently and firmly to check their functionality. 7. In bathroom, turn tap on and off, check hot water, edge of shower basis, bath tubs, leakage issues, tiles and exhaust fan. 8. In toilets firstly check toilet seat, waste pipe, silicon sealant. Moreover, flush the toilet and view the area behind the seat and look for leaks. See, either water comes after cistern has been filled or not. It should be stopped, if coming continuously then there could be problem in it. 9. Electrical instrument and services are very important. Don’t touch any thing if you know nothing about these fixtures. But if you know something, then check fuse, wire system, circuit breaker etc. Also ensure physical presence of “Earth leakage safety switch”. 10. Check iron roof. It must be free of rust. But this information can’t replace the importance or need of experts. So, don’t let you in if you are not an expert.
